The first question to be answered in any Durham disability case or Greensboro disability case is are you disabled. To answer that question, we must look at how the law defines the word disability. In a Durham disability case and Greensboro disability case, the definition of disability is: a condition or combination of conditions which is serious enough to keep you out of work for at least 12 months or is expected to result in death. That is the minimum threshold, and if you can not prove that your condition is serious enough to keep you out of work for at least 12 months, then you do not qualify for social security benefits or disability benefits. So, the first conversation you will have with our Durham social security attorney or Greensboro social security attorney will be about what condition and/or conditions you have, and how your condition(s) is/are affecting your ability to work.
Tomorrow’s post will discuss how you prove you are disabled. Specifically, tomorrow’s post will discuss the test used to prove that your disability is keeping you out of work for at least 12 months.
